MySql Database's

Setting up a database on your server with ukfast.net couldn't be simpler. Follow these step by step instructions on how to add a database.

Firstly you need to login to your server, you can do this by using a normal web browser

Open your browser and enter the following address http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8090 (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx enter the ip of your server) Once connected you will be asked for you user name and password. Enter your user name and password

You are now logged in to your server.
To end your server session close the browser.






Step 1

On the menu system on the left hand side select MySql. Then click on the "link".





Step 2

You will be presented with a log on box your user name will be "root" (with out the "" marks) and password will have been provided to you by your support technicain.

Step 3

You will now be presented with the main menu. On the far left it will give you details of the database selected (at the moment there are none). In the main window you will have two list's one for MySql and one for Php. We will be using the MySql menu.

Step 4

Enter the new database name into the box, then press create.

Step 5

Now click "home" (top left hand corner). Select "users" from the MySql list. In the Add new user section:

select the database from the drop down list,

click host and enter localhost as the name,

then the required username and password.

Then check the following box's for the privileges:-

select

insert

update

delete

create

drop

index

alter

Then click go

Step 6

Click "home".

Click "reload MySql".

Click "users"

Click "Grants" in the action column at the top of the screen next to the user.

Click "Revoke Privileges" under the action column.

Click "home"

Click "reload MySql" back to top






Step 7

Click "users"

Click "Grants" next to the user.

Click "Database" Make sure the privileges are set to: select

insert

update

delete

create

drop

index

alter

Then click go.
